Carved scrollwork frames this double door, enclosing a surface alive with layered colour and dense studding. Bands of oxidised turquoise move across the wood like a washed patina, settling into recesses and carved lines, while traces of earthy red remain on the raised planes, creating a shifting dialogue between depth and exposure.

 

The grid of horizontal and vertical members holds small brass bosses, each catching light against the subdued ground. These repeated studs, beyond reinforcement, carry a quiet protective intent, marking the door as both barrier and threshold.

 

Arched cut-outs within the upper panels introduce a softer rhythm into the otherwise rectilinear field, suggesting ventilation and visibility without breaking enclosure.
