Chaturbhuja Vishnu with Garuda and Hanuman in Panchaloha Bronze – Swamimalai, Tamil Nadu

Vishnu stands in a gently swayed stance, the body shifting with a quiet grace that softens the vertical axis without breaking it. The torso inclines subtly, allowing the four arms to open outward in a measured spread.

The chakra and shankha are held with composure, framing the upper body, while the forward hand in abhaya introduces reassurance, balanced by the relaxed positioning of the remaining arm.

The drapery moves with a sense of lightness, its layered bands and trailing elements responding to the slight shift in weight. Ornaments follow the structure of the body, accentuating rather than interrupting the flow of form. The crown rises in controlled tiers, anchoring the upward movement of the figure.

At the base, Garuda and Hanuman stand in anjali mudra, their inward orientation directing attention back toward Vishnu. Their presence extends the composition laterally while reinforcing devotion as a central theme.

The lotus pedestal stabilises the figure, while the bronze surface carries a soft, varied patina that deepens contour and detail. The sculpture holds a balanced presence, where grace, order, and devotion are brought into a single, continuous form.
