Each incarnation is clearly articulated through its defining form, allowing the sequence to be read with precision rather than suggestion. Matsya appears with a fish body, emerging from a water-bound form, while Kurma stands grounded, embodying stability.

Varaha lifts the earth in his boar-headed form, followed by Narasimha, whose leonine face conveys contained ferocity. Vamana is shown in compact, ascetic proportion, contrasted by Parashurama, who carries his axe with a firm, assertive stance.

Rama stands composed with bow in hand, while Balarama appears with his characteristic strength and grounded posture. Krishna follows with a more fluid, graceful presence, and Hayagriva, with the horse head, concludes the sequence with an emphasis on knowledge and clarity.

These figures unfold within a mandapam-like structure, where carved pillars and overhead bands organise their movement into a coherent architectural rhythm. Above, the conch, discus, and tilak establish the Vaishnava identity, while Garuda and Hanuman, shown in namaskara mudra, direct the gaze inward in reverence, framing the avatars as emanations of a single source.

The carving is precise and controlled, with sharp contours set against recessed grounds, allowing each form to project with clarity. The monochrome wood emphasises volume and depth, drawing attention to gesture and spacing.
