Flute-Playing Krishna Teakwood Sculpture with Sacred Cow

Krishna stands in a unique triple-bent pose, his body curved with an effortless shift of weight, the flute lifted to his lips as if the music is already in motion. The stance is intimate rather than grand, drawing the viewer closer into the sculpture, as an audience to the divine Lila of Krishna.

Carved in teakwood with a smooth, lustrous finish, the surface carries a sheen that enhances the rounded fullness of the young Lord’s form.

The ornamentation is finely worked: layered necklaces, the sacred thread, a delicately tied girdle, and the short dhoti all articulated with precision without overwhelming the figure. His hair rises into an elaborate arrangement, adorned with the peacock feather and floral elements, while a carved circular halo frames the head from behind, adding depth to the silhouette.

Beside him stands the cow, rendered with equal care. The gentle turn of the head, the subtle modelling of the body, and the fine detailing of ornaments and bells create a presence that feels attentive and alive. Even the small lift of the leg, resting lightly, adds to this sense of animation.
