Movement enters from the lower edge, where the elephant king Gajendra is caught mid-struggle, his leg seized by a crocodile in the rippling water. His raised trunk holds a lotus, an offering lifted in surrender rather than strength. The riverbank curves upward into a rocky terrain, marking the shift from earthly distress to divine intervention.

Above, Vishnu descends dynamically on Garuda, one leg extended, body angled forward, cutting across the pictorial field. His discus is poised, directed toward the crocodile, establishing the precise moment of release. To the right, a dense assembly of gods and sages gathers, their tiered formation witnessing the act as cosmic affirmation.

In the upper register, a smaller shrine-like vignette stabilises the narrative, echoing temple space within the frame. Gold is applied in raised, intricate relief across every figure, creating a textured surface where light travels unevenly across crowns, ornaments, and wings. Against the saturated red ground, the scene unfolds in layered registers, drawing the eye from crisis to deliverance, held within a single continuous field.
