The eye settles first on the contrast, the deep blue field holding together a vivid assembly of figures, each defined not just by ornament but by stance and expression. Rama stands at the centre, composed and upright, his form acting as a vertical anchor, while Sita’s slight inward tilt softens the arrangement.

Lakshmana’s posture, alert yet restrained, completes a triangular balance that feels both formal and alive. At their feet, Hanuman’s lowered gaze and folded hands introduce a different rhythm, one of movement resolved into devotion.

The surrounding arch, worked in raised relief, does more than frame the scene. Its dense surface, set with coloured accents, pushes the figures forward, creating a subtle sense of depth.

The palette carries much of the emotional weight. Saturated reds, greens, and gold tones are held firmly against the blue ground, allowing each figure to remain distinct while still part of a single visual field.

Jewellery and textiles are rendered with precision, but it is the variation in facial expression and body alignment that animates the composition, subtle shifts that prevent stillness from becoming rigidity.
