Handcrafted Wooden Venugopala Sculpture

Krishna stands in a graceful tribhanga, the body gently curved as the flute is held across his lips, creating a soft diagonal that defines the composition. This fluid posture becomes the central presence, where movement is quiet and continuous. The face is serene, the gaze slightly lowered, drawing the viewer inward toward the act of playing.

In his four-armed form, the rear hands hold the conch and discus, revealing the Narayana aspect within the pastoral figure. This dual identity becomes a key visual idea, where the intimate cowherd and the cosmic preserver coexist within a single form.

At his side, the cow leans inward, its posture attentive and calm, grounding the figure in tenderness and devotion. Around him, the intricately carved arch unfolds in dense vegetal patterns, with birds, vines, and clustered forms suggesting a living, expanding cosmos. The canopy does not merely frame but envelops, extending the presence outward.

The carving is exceptionally refined. Layers of ornament, drapery, and foliage are rendered with depth and precision, allowing light to filter through and settle into recesses.
