Large Krishna Lila Narrative Panel In Wood

A layered composition unfolds across the panel, where Krishna’s many episodes are held within a structured architectural grid anchored by a central presence. At the core, Vishnu with Lakshmi seated on Shesha establishes a calm, stabilising axis, from which the surrounding narratives extend.

The upper register captures moments of movement and intimacy. Krishna and Radha appear in dance, while nearby Krishna plays the flute beside the cow, introducing pastoral harmony. The subduing of Kaliya is rendered with coiled intensity, and another Radha-Krishna pairing brings a playful, relational balance to the sequence.

The central band reinforces iconic presence. A four-armed Venugopala stands in composed symmetry, alongside Vishnu with Lakshmi and a standing four-armed Vishnu, each figure contained within pillared niches that organise the visual flow.

Below, crouching figures and supporting forms create a grounded base, echoing classical temple construction where weight and ornament coexist. Attendants fill the spaces between, maintaining continuity across the surface.

The carving is dense and precise, enriched with polychrome layers that enhance depth while preserving clarity. Placed along a wall, the panel functions as a continuous visual field, where movement, devotion, and structure are held in balance.
