Large Wooden Ten-Armed Mahaganapati with Carved Pedestal and Aureole

Mahaganapati is presented in his five-faced, ten-armed form, seated at the centre of a densely carved wooden shrine, his body held in a composed yet expansive posture.

The multiple faces extend the presence laterally, while the arms radiate outward in controlled symmetry, each gesture clearly articulated. The expression remains focused and inward, framed by the tripunda and further enclosed by the kirtimukha motif rising from the crown.

A floral aureole encircles the figure, its layered carving creating depth and movement, with small mushaka figures integrated into the surrounding field. Above, the kirtimukha anchors the composition, reinforcing the protective and temple-derived structure of the form.

The pedestal is deeply worked, supporting the figure like a throne, with a reclining Ganesha carved at its centre, adding a secondary narrative within the base. Floral patterns continue across surfaces, tying the entire composition together.

Carved in wood, the surface carries warmth and fine grain beneath the intricate detailing, allowing light to settle into recesses and bring out the depth of carving. Tall and immersive, the sculpture is suited to a dedicated interior space where its layered presence can unfold gradually.
